PROJECT 65 PLUS

Short descriptor of good practice
The project contributes to the improvement of the quality of life and social integration of the elderly, points to the knowledge, experience and wisdom of the elderly, showing that being 65 plus means more (more time, more intellectual freedom, more opportunities to choose ). It aims to encourage older people to spend their time actively and creatively through 7 programs and improve their social integration.
 
•         Delivery books to the door – delivery of books and magazines to homes for the elderly in the City of Zagreb and persons with reduced mobility
•         Slikosat – free art workshops for the elderly people with the aim of encouraging creative expression;
•         Information literacy class – free workshops for IT and information literacy for people of the third age;
•         Meetings of generations – lectures, workshops and talk rooms for preschool children in which members of the older generation actively participate, passing on their knowledge
•         Classroom without borders – free educational programs (workshops and lectures) intended to empower older people in the area of protecting their human and material rights, as well as health and social protection
•         Exhibition 65 plus – exhibition of works authored by members of the third age group;
•         Exercise room – exercise specially designed and adapted for older people.

Type of setting where good practice is delivered
Project 65 plus takes place in 27 libraries of the City of Zagreb. It is regularly carried out througout the week and aims to incorporate the highest quality services into regular activities in each oh the libraries in the network Libraries of the city of Zagreb.

Aims and objectives of good practice
In the long term, it is expected that the project will:
•         Increase social integration and strengthen inter-generational solidarity
•         increase the quality of stay in homes for long-term care and accommodation,
•         bring the library closer as a place to meet the needs for information, culture, entertainment, education and socializing,
•         incorporate the highest quality services for members of the third age into regular activities in each of the libraries in the network Libraries of the city of Zagreb
